Partnership with The Salvation Army
As part of our ministry at Atonement, we believe that service is a key component to our faith. That is why we have provided an opportunity to step into the community and help the people around us.
James, the brother of Jesus, tells us in his letter that true faith shows itself by our works. He writes in 2:14-17: "What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, 'Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."
We began our “adoption” of the Salvation Army last fall and have had great fun working with them. A few of the things we’ve partnered with them in doing are organizing the warehouse and personal care areas, delivering Thanksgiving care packages, and bell ringing.
